The lions, cougars and tigers at the autumn festival came from a sanctuary for abandoned or neglected wild animals. Most of them had been someone's illegal pet before being rescued.

I believe the big cats were well cared for; at least, the caregivers were attentive to their needs. I watched how the humans and big cats interacted before I had my picture taken and there seemed to be some real affection between caregiver and cat.

I have always regretted that the cougar was on a chain, but I suppose the animal attendants felt they had to do that for public safety at the festival. Still, for one brief moment, I caressed a cougar. What a privilege. The experience was wonderful and I will never forget it!

The average life of a book in print is two to five years and my books are no exceptions. My books are going out-of-print. Llewellyn may consider a print-on-demand option where the books are produced one at a time as single orders come in, but that is only a future possibility when all the existing warehouse copies are sold.

Of course I am sad because I spent three years of my life writing four books. It feels like a personal loss to me. Such is the nature of the book industry. It's a tough business. Thanks to all of you who found value in my writing over the last several years.
